If you’ve been in digital marketing for longer than a New York minute, chances are you are well aware of the fact that Facebook ads have reigned supreme in the realm of paid advertising pretty much since it was first a “thing.” Well, that reign may indeed be coming to an end.
Before you get out the pitchforks and demand I be reprimanded for heresy, let me explain to you why, in my ever-so-humble opinion, I believe TikTok ads are the new (dare I say improved?) Facebook ads. If you’re looking to stand out in a market that’s already saturated and if you want to maximize your marketing budget, you need to keep reading.
TikTok Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop
While TikTok ads are barely older than a year, we’re already seeing a gold rush stage on the platform! The social media giant is very new in and of itself but the option to run ads on TikTok is even more novel and baby fresh. Now, what this means is that, yes, there are bugs that still need to be worked out – however, it’s already showing to be a MAJORLY profitable avenue for many brands.
Just like TikTok isn’t for all social media users, its ad service isn’t right for all brands. It all boils down to the company’s target audience, if they’re found on TikTok, and what they sell. Right now, we’re seeing e-commerce brands have had a lot of success with the platform and this trend is only going to continue.
The Potential is Limitless
Not to sound cheesy, but it’s true: TikTok ad potential has no limit! We’re just now in the early stages of the platform and already brands are striking gold with ads. However, the actual number of brands that are using TikTok is actually fairly limited, which means the potential for more brands to hop on is still huge since no market is what I would consider to be over-saturated just yet.
If you have a small business, if you’re a creator, if your target audience can be found on TikTok, you need to be spending some ad dollars on this platform. Facebook has been overly saturated for years now and it’s only getting worse. If you want to stand out from the crowd and not waste your marketing budget on ads that may not even be seen by the demographic you’re chasing after, take a look at TikTok especially in Q4 when marketing spots are outrageously expensive and competitive.
Hopefully, by now you’re convinced that TikTok ads are just now scratching the surface of their potential. So the next question would be what do you do with this information? Well, the obvious answer is that you take advantage of it! That means it’s time to get in front of a camera, make an engaging video that tells viewers about your business, and put some dollars behind it so it’s visible to the world!
When it comes to TikTok, it’s all about entertainment, storytelling, and giving your viewers a look at who you (or your brand) really are. Don’t overthink what you’ll say, wear, do – just be yourself and give them an idea of what your company does and what they can expect if they choose to do business with you.
Digital marketing doesn’t have to be complicated and it no longer belongs to Facebook (or Meta *eye-roll*) exclusively. It’s time for brands to branch out and see if the grass really is greener on the other side! My prediction? It just may be and there may even be a pot of gold waiting for you, too.
